One-on-one Guidance: Our librarians and mentors provide answers and resources to specific questions concerning your job search. Bring your resume, cover letter, and/or any questions you may have to the business center, and we’ll work together to find the answer. Here’s a few documents you’ll need  to get started:

Resume Outline

Writing your resume is the first step in your job search. It’s two pages where you get to make yourself shine! Above all resumes are also a great way of keeping track of your accomplishments. More information can be found here.

Cover Letter

Your cover letter is your introduction to your future employer. Write about yourself and in what ways you’re the perfect candidate for their job. More information can be found here

LinkedIn Profile

Your online presence is a big concern to today’s employers. Make them feel at ease by creating a LinkedIn account! LinkedIn accounts also give you another platform to show your future employers who you are, so take every opportunity you can get! 

Bi-weekly Courses: Attend a structured, bi-weekly course dedicated to helping you write a resume and cover letter, and preparing for your future interviews
Bootcamp Courses: Mentors from the community teach structured 2-week long courses that work with you from start to finish in finding a career

Print Resources: Our library contains numerous books on job seeking, the application process, and every topic in-between! So come in and ask a librarian for assistance or use the search above to see our materials.

Online Resources: Our library subscribes to numerous online resources including Learning Express, where you can prepare for job interviews and job specific tests, or improve basic skills such as math. (Library Card is needed for access)

Business Center Resources: Current job opportunities, community contacts, and other information to assist in your job search are available in an easy to find format! Writing a Business Plan

Writing a Business Plan is the first step in starting a business. It shows your investors and other involved parties that you are serious and committed to the business. Business Plans can also help you solidify the finer points of your business. More information can be found here.

Obtaining Required Government Documents

When starting a business, or expanding a pre-existing business, it is the owner’s responsibility to have to completed all required government documents. You can find the required documents for Ferguson, MO here.
